What should a proper solar quote tell you?
Before you pay anyone, ask for these numbers in writing:
- Full price, including installation
- System size and expected electricity generation
- Subsidy you may qualify for, and when you receive it
- Down payment, EMI and total loan repayment, if you borrow
- Roof shade check, panel and inverter details, warranty and after-sales service
Compare the price after any eligible subsidy, not just the headline price. Subsidy and loan terms are not guaranteed.

How much does solar cost?
It depends on the system size, your roof and your city. Ask for the full installed price in a written quote.
Will my electricity bill become zero?
Not always. Solar may lower your bill, but you may still pay for grid power and fixed charges.
Can I get a government subsidy?
Some homes may qualify. The amount and rules can change. Check the official PM Surya Ghar website before relying on a subsidy.
Can I pay by EMI?
It may be possible through a lender. Ask how much you must pay upfront, the monthly EMI and the total amount you’ll repay.
Will solar work during a power cut?
A regular grid-connected system usually stops during a power cut. If you need backup power, ask about a battery system.
Do I need to upload my bill now?
No. You can use the quick check without uploading anything. We’ll ask for more details only if you request a call.
